Barbados Holiday Planner
Barclays Park
The park covers both sides of the road, offering a long undeveloped stretch for beachcombing, a tree-shaded hillside for picnicing, and beach bar/restaurant for those who came empty handed. Bathroom facilities are provided. The sea is unsafe for swimming, but the park is extremely popular for gatherings and picnics. On weekends and public holidays, groups descend with the elaborate meals that characterize a Bajan picnic.
Each year during the Crop Over festival, Barclay’s Park becomes the venue for wild abandon as the Party Monarch calypso competition is staged here. Not far from here is Morgan Lewis Sugar Windmill (rum runners trail) which is an impressively restored relic of another era, Bathsheba, with its quaint surrounding villages and super surfing is down the coast.
